All Lies

Telling yourself this lie and believing it will keep you forever in debt

Taking care of finances is not easy. All those bills, student loans, credit card payments, not to mention trying to save for a down payment on a house or investing for retirement. No wonder we end up saying to ourselves, “I’m never going to get ahead” But it turns out that’s one of the most destructive lies you’ll ever tell yourself.

When you tell yourself that you will never get ahead, you give up trying.

Why bother saving money when you’ll never have the luxury of buying a home?

Why bother reducing your debts when you have more debt than you can handle?

With a defeatist attitude like that, why bother getting out of bed in the morning?

Instead, say this to yourself, that you’re going to get ahead by taking small steps toward your goal every day. Work on paying off the balance on a single credit card. Start setting aside just $100 a month for your retirement. That may not sound like much, but over time, you will see results!

If mistakes happen along the way, don’t beat yourself up too much. Instead, learn from financial mistakes so you can avoid them next time. And, be willing to sacrifice today (that vacation or new car) in order to build a down payment on a house for tomorrow.

Instead of lying to yourself about how hopeless things are, make this day the first day of your financial future secured!
